A quiet district by the forest and the dam

The villa stands on Jizerská street in Starý Harcov – on the eastern edge of Liberec, where the city turns into forest and the Jizera Mountains. A quiet, green address, and still five minutes from the centre.

Jizerská street is one of the historic axes of the district – the road from here to Rudolfov was built as early as 1910–11. Starý Harcov is sought after for combining nature and quiet with access to the city; popular with families, with a low crime rate. Above the district rises the forest, and below it lies the Harcov dam, and a short way off are Lidové sady with the zoo and the botanical garden.

Where exactly the building stands

A hundred metres above the city, its back to the mountains

Liberec lies in a basin, the villa on its eastern slope. From the window you look across the city to Ještěd; behind the building the ground keeps rising into the Jizera Mountains. This is the address in a single picture.

A height section through the surroundings of Švýcarská vila: Ještěd at 1012 m above sea level seven kilometres to the west, the centre of Liberec at 355 m two and a half kilometres below the building, the villa at 455 m, Rudolfov at 650 m and Bedřichov at 770 m in the direction of the Jizera Mountains. A diagram, not a surveyed profile. Elevations from elevation data (Open‑Meteo and Open‑Elevation, both verified on 18 August 2026), the height of Ještěd of 1012 m according to the commonly quoted figure. Distances as the crow flies from Jizerská 226/25.

The difference of a hundred metres in height compared with the centre is why the air is different here, the quiet is different, and the snow comes earlier in winter. It is also why the apartments face south: the slope falls away towards the city and nothing stands in the way of the view.

The Harcov dam lies a short way below the building, in the valley of the Harcov brook – a walk down to the water goes downhill, and back uphill.
